Gum Recession Treatment Before Orthodontic Care
Problem
The patient was referred by an orthodontist before starting orthodontic treatment. A gum recession around the canine tooth had exposed part of the root, causing increased tooth sensitivity.- Gum recession around the canine tooth
- Exposed root surface with increased sensitivity
- Soft tissue preparation required before orthodontic treatment
Solution
- Surgical root coverage was performed using the patient's own soft tissue.
- The procedure was carried out using the VISTA technique, a minimally invasive approach involving two small lateral incisions that preserves blood supply and provides an excellent aesthetic outcome.
- At the one-month follow-up, the tissues showed excellent healing. The gum became thicker and wider, and most of the exposed root surface was successfully covered.
- Tooth sensitivity was significantly reduced, and the gum tissues were successfully prepared for the upcoming orthodontic treatment.
Treatment period:
1 surgical visit with a one-month follow-up day
