The Signature Swiss GBT Hygiene Protocol at Polyclinic.ae is an advanced professional oral hygiene treatment based on the Swiss Guided Biofilm Therapy protocol.
The procedure consists of 12 carefully sequenced stages and takes 75 minutes. Every tooth, area of the gums, interdental space, implant, and restoration margin receives focused attention based on the patient’s individual clinical needs.
Before cleaning begins, a safe disclosing solution colours the bacterial biofilm. This allows the doctor to identify all problem areas and carefully monitor the quality of the cleaning. The results are documented with photographs before and after the procedure.
The appointment concludes with a personalised oral hygiene lesson and individual recommendations for home care products.

- Before photographs. Diagnostic images provide an accurate record of the initial condition.
- Oral examination. Assessment of the teeth, gums, implants, and restorations. Treatment recommendations are provided where clinically necessary.
- Biofilm disclosure. A safe disclosing solution colours the bacterial biofilm, allowing all problem areas to be identified precisely.
- Topical anaesthetic and flossing. Comfort from the beginning of the procedure and thorough cleaning of every interdental space.
- AirFlow cleaning. Gentle removal of biofilm, including areas below the gumline and around restorations and implants.
- PerioFlow cleaning. A specialised soft tip removes biofilm from deeper periodontal pockets and around dental implants.
- Piezon ultrasonic scaling. Hard deposits are removed above and below the gumline using minimal power and continuous water cooling.
- Strip polishing. Interdental contact surfaces are polished in sequence using four different levels of grit.
- Final polishing. A rotary brush and professional polishing paste leave the enamel smooth and naturally bright.
- Fluoride treatment. A remineralising fluoride gel is applied in soft individual trays for two to three minutes to strengthen and protect the enamel.
- After photographs. The doctor presents and explains the before, disclosed-biofilm, and after images.
- Personal oral hygiene lesson. Individual recommendations for a toothbrush, toothpaste, single-tuft brush, interdental brushes, and floss. The patient also receives a written home care plan.
