Therapeutic dentistry
The main tasks of general dentistry are prevention, detection and treatment of teeth and gums using conservative methods. Thanks to the use of advanced technologies and materials, it became possible to restore even those teeth that had to be removed until recent times.
Health largely depends on the patient himself. Visiting a dental therapist with a certain frequency allows to avoid many problems with teeth and gums in the future.
Despite the emergence of effective techniques and the introduction of high-quality materials into dental practice, there is a tendency to increase the number of diseases of the oral cavity. One of the reasons for this is the low level of knowledge and understanding of the importance of preventive measures.
That's why dentists strongly advise visiting the clinic regularly, even if nothing is bothering you.
If you experience one of these symptoms it is better not to postpone a visit to the dentist:
- the appearance of bad breath – halitosis;
- accretion, visible to the naked eye;
- toothache of varying degrees of intensity;
- mobility of teeth;
- drooping, swelling and redness of the gums;
- bleeding, purulent discharge from the gums;
- chips and cracks on the enamel;
- increased sensitivity of teeth.
Tasks of general dentistry
The general dentist performs the primary examination, which begins with an examination of the oral cavity on a dental chair. Then he either treats the problem himself, or directs the patient to a specialist of another profile – a surgeon, an orthodontist, etc.The general dentistry includes the following procedures:
- treatment of superficial, medium and deep caries;
- endodontic treatment with rehabilitation and obturation of the root canals of the tooth (depulpation);
- filling of teeth, as well as replacement and polishing of previously installed fillings;
- treatment of inflamed gums on the background of gingivitis and periodontitis;
- restoration of the dentoalveolar junction in periodontal disease, including splinting of teeth;
- elimination of wedge-shaped defects, chips and other dental injuries;
- complex treatment of fluorosis;
- removal of tartar and pigmented plaque;
- artistic restoration with restoration of the shape and functionality of damaged teeth;
- treatment of stomatitis and other diseases of the oral mucosa.
What kind of examinations is being conducted in Polyclinic.ae
We have a modern and powerful laboratory and diagnostic base, within which instrumental studies are carried out:- X-ray;
- orthopantomography. Panoramic images show complete picture of the structure of the jaws and allow to detect hidden pathologies, periodontitis;
- computed tomography. Three-dimensional images of the dental apparatus are necessary for the appointment of the most effective therapy;
- electrodontodiagnostics. To determine the viability of dental tissues inside the pulp chamber, an electric current is applied to the tooth, determining the presence/ absence of a painful reaction. Indications – caries, pulpitis, periodontitis, radicular cysts, neuritis;
- temperature tests, color markers, luminescent techniques with ultraviolet light can also be used for full-fledged diagnostics. In case of mucosal lesions, laboratory tests of blood, urine, saliva are informative.
