At Polyclinic.ae, all diagnostic services are available under one roof — MRI, ultrasound, EEG, and X-ray.
X-ray imaging (radiography) is a fast and reliable diagnostic method used to assess the condition of bones, joints, the chest, lungs, and other organs.
It is prescribed by general practitioners, orthopedists, trauma surgeons, surgeons, ENT specialists, and dentists. X-rays help detect fractures, pneumonia, osteoarthritis, osteochondrosis, sinusitis, and other disorders of the respiratory and musculoskeletal systems.
You can undergo an X-ray without prior booking — immediately after your consultation. A referral is required, which can be provided by your doctor.
What You Need for an X-ray
- Referral from a doctor (from Polyclinic.ae or an external specialist).
- No appointment required — the test can be performed on the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is X-ray safe?
-
Yes. Modern digital systems use extremely low radiation doses that are safe for health.
- Do I need to book an appointment?
-
No. At Polyclinic.ae, X-rays can be done immediately after your consultation.
- Do I need a referral?
-
Yes. A referral is required from your doctor — whether a therapist, orthopedist, trauma specialist, surgeon, dentist, or ENT physician.
- How long does the test take?
-
Usually 5–10 minutes. Images are available immediately, and the radiologist’s report is ready shortly afterward.
- When will the results be ready?
-
The report is issued the same day, typically within 30–60 minutes after the procedure.
- Can children have X-rays?
-
Yes, when clinically necessary. The radiation dose is minimized, and alternative methods (like ultrasound) are used whenever possible.
- Is X-ray covered by insurance?
-
Yes, with a valid referral and prior approval. Our administrative team will verify and coordinate with your insurance provider.
- How is X-ray different from CT and MRI?
-
X-ray best visualizes bones and lungs. CT provides detailed layered images of internal structures, while MRI is ideal for examining the brain, vessels, joints, and soft tissues.
- Can I have multiple X-rays in one day?
-
Yes, if required. Your doctor will determine the safest approach, taking into account total radiation exposure.
- Can I receive my images electronically?
-
Yes. Reports and images are available both in printed format and electronically (on a CD or sent by email).
